Graphite is experiencing a period of rapid growth, having doubled in size since ‘lockdown 1’ in March 2020 - a high level of demand from existing clients as well as new ones is creating growth opportunities for everyone within the agency and for the agency itself.

The Role

We have big ambitions for our future and will need to grow our team in order to achieve them. Talent is critical to fuelling this growth, and we’re on the lookout for someone who can help us recruit and retain bright talent, now and in the future.

You will be responsible for recruiting and onboarding talent effectively, proactively building relationships with talent in the sector, building our employer brand and supporting individuals right through to starting a role at Graphite and beyond - staying connected with everyone and will be the first point of escalation of any HR challenges. You will also act as the ‘voice of the employee’, oversee our benefits package, oversee the pay structure, and advise the SLT in key decisions which will affect the team.

We are looking for an individual to work with a full-time (37.5h) contract, and individuals may work remotely, in the Brighton office or a hybrid of both.

The Team

You’ll report to the Managing Director, and will be working in the BizOps team, which also encompasses Ops, Marketing and Finance - a team going from strength to strength, which will help support in administrative and practical terms when needed.

You will work in partnership with all of our departments, especially those in Delivery/Project Management to forecast and the hiring requirements, and work closely with Operations and Finance to oversee and enhance our onboarding process.


The successful candidate will have a strong background in Recruitment and Talent/HR, and should have worked in the digital sector or ideally a digital agency in order to understand ‘what good looks like’ in research, design, account management and project management talent.

Duties will include


  • Sourcing candidates for our UK and international operations. Recruitment is the first priority of this key role and building a strong recruitment strategy.
  • Generating initiatives that will develop relationships for our talent pipeline
  • Creating and maintaining job advertisements across a range of platforms with a view to attracting the best talent.
  • Shortlisting, assessing and interviewing candidates.
  • Liaising with our Squads, Delivery team and SLT to clarify hiring requirements and timings.
  • Taking ownership and responsibility the Talent Strategy and Employer Brand

HR & Talent

  • Act as first point of contact for escalation of any HR queries that cannot be resolved by Line Managers
  • Continually review existing practices and processes with a pragmatic eye for scaling to meet our ever-changing needs as a high growth company.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to HR issues and process
  • Oversee the onboarding process, and manage it in partnership with our Ops Manager
  • Assisting with additional tasks across business development, HR and operations where required.
  • Defining the in-role training pathways for individuals across the Agency
  • Designing the Benefits & Perks package


  • Proactive recruitment experience
  • Sensitive to people’s needs and ability to support in challenging situations
  • Experience in working for/with a digital design agency, with understanding of ‘what good looks like’ with design, account management and project management hires.


  • Experience working with and supporting a Senior Leadership Team
  • CIPD level 5

£45k-52k depending on experience
